Homework

At Longton Primary School, we believe that homework plays a vital role in reinforcing the learning undertaken in class and fostering essential study skills in our pupils. Homework is assigned every Thursday and is expected to be returned by the following Tuesday, ensuring a consistent routine. By engaging with their homework independently, children can develop their confidence and responsibility in a relaxed setting. If homework remains incomplete at home, pupils are offered the opportunity to finish it during break times, often surprising themselves with how quickly they can complete the tasks. We appreciate your support in helping to establish these strong learning habits that are crucial for their academic journey.

If your child has found learning difficult and has received extra support in school they may bring home additional work home on any night of the week to help embed the learning they had found tricky.

Below is the outline of the types of homework that will be set in each year group. This will sometimes vary. However, it would be very rare to not go out each week. If your child does not bring homework home please request it from the class teacher to help keep the good habits in place.
