Week Beginning Monday 21st May 2018

Date: 19th May 2018 @ 12:52pm

Hello,

I hope you are enjoying your weekend and the Royal Wedding, if you are watching.

Next week is our annual Arts Week so our timetable will be quite different! This year the theme is The Commonwealth. On Monday, we have a visit from a Deputy Lieutent for Lancashire who will teach the children a little about The Commonwealth. We also have a local artist, Peter Bourne, coming to school to make decorate fish with the children. On Tuesday, a local fibre artist will be sharing an assembly with the children about spinning wool and creating textiles. Some wind instrument players from Penwortham Girls High School will be coming to perform some of the songs they've been practising to Reception, Year One and Year Two. On Wednesday afternoon it is Sports Day (weather permitting). On Thursday, a dance group are coming to teach us some traditional Scottish dance. On Friday, a local artist who specialises in clay sculpture is coming to teach Year One some clay skills. Also, Peter Bourne is returning on Friday to help us to paint some poppies. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday we will practise for Dance from the Heart which is an annual dance event that takes place after half-term. We will also be doing our own art activities in class throughout the week based on countries from The Commonwealth.

We will change books on Friday as normal and check spellings. We will send home holidays passports instead of usual homework to complete over the half-term.

Please send in some kind of named old top/overall on Monday to keep in school all week. This is to protect the children's school uniform.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday,

Mrs Coxhead
