Week Beginning Monday 6th November 2017

Date: 5th Nov 2017 @ 10:43am

Hello all :)

I hope that you have had a wonderful half-term. Here is what we are doing in Year One this week:

English

We are writing a recount about our trip to Underwater Street's Imagine That!

Maths

We are learning about efficient ways to count numbers beyond ten and to check that other people's counting is accurate.

Phonics

We are reviewing a few sounds and beginning work in our new groups. Mrs Thomson's group will be reviewing ue (blue glue), ie (a colourful tie) and ou (shout it out). They will be practising 'children', 'little' and 'it's'. Miss Adamson's group will be reviewing ai (snail in the rain), oa (goat in a boat) and ow (brown cow). They will be pracitising 'will', 'now' and 'back'.

Handwriting

We will begin to learn some joins this week.

Science

We will be learning about the weather in preparation for our class trip.

Jigsaw

We will begin our new unit: Celebrating Difference. We are finding out what makes us similar to others in our class.

PE

We are beginning our gymnastics unit.

Reading

Books will be changed on Wednesday, as normal. Children will mostly have new guided reading teachers.

Homework

Please hand in red book bags containing holiday passports on Tuesday.

I look forward to seeing you all in the morning.

Many thanks,

Miss Adamson
