World book day, by Mrs Pratten

The Elephants all looked amazing today and have enjoyed world book day so far, thank you for all your efforts! So far we have had a story session at the library with Tom,he read us some funny stories, we have had our photo taken and written about our character and have had a story quiz.This afternoon we are looking forward to the book swap, making a book mark and reading more stories! A lovely day!
Music fun, by Mrs Pratten

Well done to Elizabeth and Thomas who took part in a swimming gala and won lots of medals, we are very proud of you and enjoyed hearing your exciting news!
Today the Elephants enjoyed their regular music lesson with Mrs Bolton, they had a funky warm up and then played the glocks , it sounded very good 🎵🎵
Yesterday the children bought home their treasure boxes that they made in Jigsaw lessons, they completed lots of different challenges and made a reward for themselves out of clay, well d9ne Elephants for being up for the challenge!
Learning about plants, by Mrs Pratten

This afternoon we have started to enjoy our science learning, finding out all about plants. We discussed what a plant was and then explored the school grounds choosing 4 plants to draw. We had a sheet to help us find out what the names of some of them were.
This morning in Maths we had fun doubling, some of us played a rocket doubling game with a friend.
A gritter visit!, by Mrs Pratten

Today we had an exciting visit from a gritter truck. All classes went to see it and we learnt some very interesting facts, ask me what I can remember! It was huge, we were able to walk around it and look carefully at all the different parts to it. The one that came to school was called Holly Chilloughby , we have been asked to think of funny names for the others.Get your thinking caps on and let us know ,we will enter your ideas into the competition.

This afternoon the Elephants designed their own moving picture using all their new skills to help them . They had to draw out their design and then go and make it. they all tried really hard and their designs look fantastic- well done 👍

Yesterday the elephants learnt another new way of making pictures move - using a wheel ,it was tricky to make the face the right way up! We kept going and were proud of our pictures.

Today the lelphants enjoyed a visit to the library where we had a pop up story session. We bought some books back to school to help us with our DT project which is to design a moving picture. Today we experimented with making a slider to move our pictures along. They looked great!
Jigsaw challenge, by Mrs Pratten

Today the Elephants enjoyed their Jigsaw challenge which was to work with a partner, set a goal and design a welly together. They were encouraged to take turns, listen to each other and be a great team together.....and they did! They were all fantastic not one argument and some amazing wellies designed. Well done super star Elephants😜
Finding out about the Uny Kingdom , by Mrs Pratten

Today we enjoyed learning about the United Kingdom and the 4 countries that make it up. We looked in the atlas’s to find out about the world and to help us make our Jigsaw country pieces to put together to make the UK. It was tricky to get them in the right place and to make sure that the countries were all the right size compared to each other ...but we did it!!
Designing a new cereal box, by Mrs Pratten

The children have really been enjoying our story this week There’s a lion in my cornflakes and it was voted our favourite story of the the 3 we have read so far. This week we written our own versions with free sea creatures instead and alll sort of things going wrong! The children had fun creating their own cereal boxes today , writing what sea creature was free, the name of the cereal and trying to use lots of adjectives. They look great! They will be coming home next week with a copy of the story in it.
A big thank you to Bobbys mum who has recycled old sweat shirts and PE tops to make a lovely blanket for us in our reading area. We love it!

This week we have been learning all about 3D shapes, looking for 2D shapes on them and using different words to describe them.
In English we are enjoying the story There’s a Lion in my cornflakes.We are making up our own stories using sea creatures.
Science work has been sorting animals into mammals, birds and reptiles.

We have been learning a all about 2 D shapes - some familiar and some new ,pentagon and a hexagon .Describing them learning new words, vertex- vertices, curved. We enjoyed making shapes with cardboard strips and geo strips and sesigned shape pictures, counting how many of each sheep we had used.

We had a great phonics session enjoying the sunshine.We had to look for pebbles which had sounds on and write a word with that sound. We were fantastic!

We have been comparing the mass of objects in Maths.We had to find things heavier and lighter than a bag of sugar ,1kg, order some objects heavier to lightest using the balancing scales and then to find the smallest and tallest in our group but we were not allowed to go back to back or line up!

The elephants have had a busy week making New Year promises, enjoying the story No thank you! In English Problem solving with numberlines and estimating steps to 50. In Maths,They also enjoyed throwing and catching yesterday afternoon and really had a lovely afternoon decorating a treasure box as part of our Jigsaw work.
Phew...busy,busy ,busy!!
They have come with a letter today outlining our learning for the half term ,which should help with project ideas.Remember it can be a hooky or interest too.

We had a busy morning filling the Princess Mary tins with goodies for the school. We are going to take them round tomorrow and tell classes what they are and why we have made them.
This afternoon was party, party , party! We had fun dancing, playing games and meeting Father Christmas.

Today the elephants enjoyed a visit to the library for a Christmas story session . There were a couple involving Brussels sprouts and some interesting noises!
We also used our finger painting skills to make a 4 season tree for our calendars.

This week we have put on our Christmas play ,It’s a baby.We hope you all enjoyed it , we think we were amazing!
We have also been using grapes to help us with our fraction work, were able to share them out equally by sometimes having to chop them on half.
Today we used the large apparatus in our gymnastics lesson, we did some great travelling, jumping and rolling, we earnt a class compliment for our fantastic listening🙂
We are looking forward to our class compliment treat tomorrow!

The elephants had a lovely morning baking gingerbread people, the small around school was wonderful!
We also designed our own gingerbread people , using icing, raisins, cherries , chocolate chips and smarties and are looking forward to decorating them tomorrow.

Today the elephants have been learning about halves and quarters using shapes and chocolate! We talked about halving and how it has to be 2 equal parts. We used Kitkats to show halves first and then quarters ( and yes we did eat them!)
It was lovely to then hear the children at lunchtime talking about half a sandwich, half a pizza and even discussing quarters.Elephants you really are fantastic!!

The elephants have really been inspired by Van Gogh.They added to their sketch books on Friday and had a go today at painting the real thing! They were all very proud of their artwork and quite rightly so.
This morning we enjoyed being outside and role playing the story of the gingerbread man.We split into groups, decided who was who and then sequenced the events. We showed our stories to the other groups. We were all fantastic!
