Roald Dahl Day, by Mr Coxhead

Date: 13th Sep 2016 @ 6:18pm

Roald Dahl Day has been a thriving success!

We all gathered for an assembly at the end of the day to share some of the fantastic work produced in each class. Year 6 performed a poem from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which you can see a video of below. Years 1 to 5 shared a wide range of dazzling work (from extended writing to various styles of artwork) - photographs can be seen below!

During the assembly, we drew names from the BFG's 'dream jar' to find out who had won the Association's Gloriumptious Roald Dahl competition. We invited three very special people to the stage to draw names from the jar (all of whom share their birthday with Roald Dahl!): Stanley in Y2, Bailey in Y3 and our very own Sandye!

The overall winner of the 29-CD Roald Dahl Audiobook Collection was Sara (Y5). Five runner-up prizes (a BFG Activity & Sticker Book) were also won.

Thank you to everyone who donated £1 by entering the competition! We have raised over £140 to replenish the stock of Roald Dahl novels in our school library.

In search of a golden ticket!, by Mrs Pratten

Date: 13th Sep 2016 @ 2:14pm

WELCOME BACK, by Mrs Catterall

Date: 11th Sep 2016 @ 5:15pm

A warm welcome back to the new school year.  Giraffes are now in Key Stage 2!

We have had a lovely first week back in school getting to know each other.    We have been in the computer suite, used the ipads, had a try at Jujitsu, practised our German and used the Atlases as part of our topic work.

We have lots more new experiences waiting for us next week with Roald Dahl day activities on Tuesday and our first swimming lesson on Thursday.

The Giraffes have made an excellent start to the year.  Well done.

Welcome Back, by Miss Leigh

Welcome back Bears,

We have had a wonderful first week.  The children all looked especially smart in their uniforms and have all been very well organised. Well Done Bears!

It has been a very exciting week for all of us. We have sat next to lots of different people, played lots of games, discovered we are a little competitive when we play Countdown and even had a go at a little Jujitsu.  The children have impressed me with their hard work, manners and enthusiasm.

It looks like we are going to have a great year!

Week #1 - Lift off!, by Mr Coxhead

Date: 9th Sep 2016 @ 4:44pm

It's been a real pleasure to teach our knew Year 6 class this week; they have made an excellent start to the school year. Adults around school have commented on their maturity and settled manner. The class even received their first 'class compliment' award of the year for their conduct in assembly with Mrs Fletcher on Tuesday!

We launched into the curriculum on day one and every child has adopted a hard-working, determined attitude. It is clear that they are eager to make the most of their time in Year 6 and I am confident that a successful and enjoyable year awaits us.

This blog will be updated throughout the year, giving you an insight into our life at school. For now, we leave you with a few entertaining snaps from our 'Jujitsu' sample lesson on Thursday.

Have an enjoyable and safe weekend!
