As always a busy fun filled week. We've been busy trying to make some Easter goodies. We are looking forward to seeing lots of you at church on Friday for the Easter Assembly. 

After the holidays I have planned an outdoor open day for Wednesday 26thApril from 2pm onwards. All reception parents and grandparents will be very welcome to come along and have a look at what we have been doing outside. More info will follow....hope everyone has a lovely Easter x

all of the Easter bonnets were incredible. What a lot of hard work! Thank you for your amazing effort! We had the parade indoors this year to keep the bonnets dry. Sorry that the photos are quite blurry.

We had a wonderful time at The Harris Museum today. We made a toy timeline, made a peg doll, played with some old toys and drew pictures so that we remember what we learned.

We collected spring flowers and grasses for our windows then stuck them together. They look beautiful!

Maths

In Maths, we will finish our work on shape. The children will learn to: 

- Draw 2D shapes using given dimensions angles.

- Recognise, describe and build simple 3D shaps, including making nets.

We will also continue to revise arithmetic and other aspects of reasoning.

Writing

We will work on formal non-fiction writing.

GPS

Our focus will continue to be revision. We will look at:

- Possessive pronouns.
- Direct speech and reported speech.
- Past progressive tense.
- Past perfect tense.
- Present progressive tense.
- Present perfect tense.

Reading

We will continue to develop our comprehension skills. 

Other areas

- PE.

- Art.

- Topic.

- Easter service (Friday afternoon).

This Week the 🐯  will be learning about :

English - writing their own chronological reports 

               Writing Pirates versus Mermaids as a story for KS1

Maths - working out how to calculate area by counting squares, solving problems

Spelling - assessment of spellingslearnt so far, target words 

Geography - using google maps to create their own 3D maps of their German towns

Art and design - painting peppers and making Easter cards

RE - looking at famous Christians Martin Luther King and GLadys Aylwood, what did they sacrifice? What would the children find hard to sacrifice, why?

PE - working with Dillon on Agilty, Balance and Co - ordination

Lots of exciting learning  to look forward to, then a well earns rest!

Don't forget to decorate an egg for the competition and Easter Egg bingo on Wednesday

The Week Ahead - Monday 27th March 2017, by Miss Adamson

I hope that you have enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend! We have been very fortunate. 

In the final week of term before the Easter break we will be spending some time learning about Easter and Spring.

Maths

In Maths we will finish our work on telling the time by drawing hands on a clock face. We will move on to measuring time in seconds, minutes and hours. On Friday, we will do a speedy review of measuring mass and weight.

English

In English we will be studying the Easter story. We will learn about the symbols of Easter and why they are special to make a booklet. We will read about the Easter story and do some writing about the Easter story using our neatest handwriting..

Phonics

Mrs Gray's group will be practising recognising phase 5 sounds in words for reading and using phase 5 sounds to write words.

Miss Adamson's group will be learning about adjectives and revising nouns and verbs. They will also continue to do speedy phase 5 reviews.

Handwriting

We will practise forming the digits 7-9 and 0.

Science

We are looking for signs of Spring and creating our own Spring windows.

Art

We are learning about the world's most expensive eggs - Fabergé eggs! We will try to create our own versions.

Music

It is our last chance to practise our song for the Easter service in church! We hope that you will enjoy it.

Assembly

On Friday afternoon we hope to see you in church for our Easter service.

Trip

On Tuesday morning we are going to the Harris Museum and Gallery to learn about old fashioned toys. We will leave school at 0915 and will head back at 1145. We will have lunch in school as normal. If you haven't given permission yet, please give you forms to myself or Anna on Monday.

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine and don't forget to give those special cards to that special person tomorrow. 

Next week is going to be busy but lots of fun. 

In Maths:  We'll be learning about Capacity, Volume and converting units of weight and length. 

In English we will continue to read "The Incredible Adventures of Professor Branestawm"  and writing our own chapter about another wacky invention of his, which is bound to cause chaos. 

In GPS: It will be Hypens, Brackets and Dashes, as well as a recap of prefixes and suffixes from this term. 

Science:  We will be exploring Air Resistance a little more and what happens if it is increased or decreased.  

Art and ICT will focus on creating electronically pieces inspired by Islamic Art and the house of Wisdom. 

PE:  We will be working with Coach Dylan on ball skills

PHSE: Collaberation and working together. 

Finally, we have something to prepare for our Easter assembly in Church on Friday afternoon and not forgetting the Easter bonnet and Egg show Thursday afternoon. 

Homework for this week:  English is due Tuesday, Maths- Wednesday.

As always we have been busy. We have been thinking about animals in the ocean. Then we had our first step on the sensory footpath. We have enjoyed our time in the Spring sunshine and we have had doors put on our outdoor classes. Very, very exciting. Ooh acrylic arrived for the mosaic bench so that it will be fit for purpose and safe to sit on.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and a lovely Mothers Day. Next week is a fun filled week with lots of lovely Easter themed things planned. The children have helped plan the week and want to learn and play outside all week!

We will be reading the story of Easter in RE, and then making palm crosses. We are having an Easter themed maths week and still thinking about our learn its, addition, subtraction and big maths.

we will be on our school trip to bring yer wellies on Tuesday and finding out about animal life cycles, using our senses, having a boat race with small cork boats,in  the stream, den making and generally having good old fashioned fun! we have an Easter bunny egg hunt planned.

We need to make a bird hide that we have all designed

We want to bake and make cards and Easter baskets.

We are at church on Friday afternoon for the Easter assembly.  

Wow what a fun filled week. Have a super weekend and come back ready to have fun next week. 😃

This Week in Year 4 Has been an eventful one! We have had a big play and we enjoyed it! The play was called Pirates Vs. Mermaids. In geography, we learnt about how Germany has lots of rivers,forests and mountains.We are doing research in where our football teams come from. We found out that the Black Forest is right next to Munich!

As I am not in school next week the children have brought home an outline of homework for this week and the Easter holidays. Over the next 3 weeks please could you spend time reading, going over the 2,5,10 and 3 times tables, telling the time and ofcourse adding a little something to the wonderful holiday passports.

The Bongos have been learning about wolves today. They have written some super non chronolgical reports using the knowledge they have learnt.

We have also been outside using commands such as forwards, turn clockwise and turn anti clockwise to follow directions.

We have been really enjoying our Science topic on forces so far.  We have been exploring how a car travels on different surfaces and developing our skills in recording data in a table.  We gathered all the data together in a spreadsheet and looked for any results we thought might not be accurate and discussed why thismight be. The children showed a really good understanding of how we could make the test as fair as possible.  Great work Giraffes. 

We will be developing our force knowledge and exploring magnets later this week so keep a look out for our findings.
