Top Secret Mission!, by Mr Kennedy
Date: 17th Nov 2023 @ 7:56am
The Y4 & Y5 tribe visited the Lancashire History Museum yesterday, where we were on a top secret mission!
Year 4 & year 5
- Spies in the skies – The tribes met a representative from RAF Medmenham and learned about aerial reconnaissance during WWII. The children used photographic interpretation using genuine WWII images to discover enemy secrets.
- D-Day – It's 1944 and rumours of invasion are in the air! The tribes had the important task of sifting through information gathered behind enemy lines to prepare a document for a top-secret briefing. They needed good attention to detail, good teamwork and decisive action to ensure success of their mission.
- SOE Agents – The children discovered the role of the WWII secret agents, and the huge impact they had on the course of the war. Pupils forged their ID papers, made gadgets and learned the tricks of the wartime spy.
- Code breakers – We met a code breaker from Bletchley Park and discovered the secret war they waged that hugely impacted WWII. They discovered and practiced codes and ciphers including Morse code.

Welcome back!
We have had such a lovely first week back and although it's been a very warm first week back, the children have kickstarted their final term of year 4 with a bang!
The tribe have kickstarted most of their final topics for year 4, including a comparison study of Italy in Geography alongside exploring a range of habitats in science and the living things that may live there. We danced with some Disney passion in Dance With The Heart.
They have shown resillience to working on time in maths, reading clock faces and converting to 12-hour and 24-hour, please keep practicing this at home! Reading clocks, both digital and analogue.
Thank you for a lovely first week back and have a lovely weekend.
